My First Post! About Me and My Vision Behind My Writing

My Amazing Life

Okay, where do I start…

I am a twenty-one-year-old born and raised in the great, rural state of Missouri. I am the oldest of six kids so you can imagine life is often pure chaos.

While I have always lived in Missouri I have also been a part of the same Southern Baptist church my entire life. The church is my community, where many of my friendships have blossomed and been cultivated over the years. The church is not just a community, but a family. I have been richly blessed to be raised in a solid, Bible-believing church where the Gospel is not only taught but displayed by so many different and beautiful individuals around me.

As a young adult, I have the freedom to experience and explore many opportunities and interests.

I love to be with people. Family and friends are what I want to prioritize in my life and God has so richly blessed me with amazing human beings.

When it comes to hobbies I love to play music (piano specifically), take long walks outside, play volleyball, write, read, drink lots of coffee (just black, please), bake, serve at church, be organized, and try new things!

I am pretty normal and extroverted (don’t worry, I’m not one of those crazy, life of the party extroverts. ;)

My goal in life is to savor the present and anticipate the future.  Jim Elliot so wisely wrote, “Let not our longing slay the appetite of our living.” [i]

This quote has become my anthem. I do not want to look back on my life knowing I only lived for the future and missed the present.

Every single day is a gift. Today is a privilege, tomorrow is not promised.

So, in this fun, full, God-sustaining life I long to make the most of it. I want to share the Gospel with others, dump love on those around me, serve joyfully, embrace the little things, give thanks, and long for the future

  1. My Walk with Christ

The BEST thing about my life is that I do not live for myself but Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the most beautiful, significant, and life-changing part of my life. Jesus is my everything. Life would be meaningless, in fact it couldn’t exist without him.

Because of the Gospel, God’s rescue plan, I can give him glory with my life. The reason why I love others, experience joy, and have hope of eternal life is because of God.

“Jesus is my everything. Life would be meaningless, if fact it couldn’t exist without him.”

My life is not about me. When Christ saved me he took the throne of my heart.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20 ESV)

I was a hopeless sinner. By the work of Christ alone I can say that sentence in the past tense.

Before Jesus, I was a condemned, sinful person running away from God and towards hell. Hell is not a figurative word but a literal, spiritual place. But, because of his saving work on the cross, Christ died for my sins and I am now covered by his sacrifice and guaranteed eternal life.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is a gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9 ESV)

No matter how “good” a person I was, saving myself was impossible. The only One who is responsible for my salvation and eternal hope is God. He made a way for me when there was no other way.

So now I live free. Yes, sin can still entangle my life but it is sin that has already been covered for on the cross. Jesus did not save me so I could go back to my normal life. He transformed my life which means change has to take place.

The more I walk with Christ the more I become like him. God has revealed himself through his perfect Word, the Bible, which is where I discover who God is.

Who you love you imitate and who you imitate you become like. The more I chase after God the more my heart will become like his. What a beautiful sanctification process!

Not only has my life changed but I hope and pray that people will see Jesus in me. The Gospel is so life-changing that it cannot be contained in me. I can also live out the Great Commission by going and telling others the good news of the Gospel. I hope people will see a light just from my smile and words and joy, but I am also called to go and share the good news of the Gospel with others.

“I was a hopeless sinner. By the work of Christ alone I can say that sentence in the past tense.”

“But God being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Eph. 2:4-6)

  1. My Passion

As I already stated, Jesus is my everything. So everything I do I want to be for him.

Maybe you have a passion for sports or music. I have many passions but one desire that consumes my daydreams, plans, and hopes is writing and communicating. How much I would love to teach Bible lessons and write articles and curriculum and write books. This passion is not something that was born last night. Instead, it has slowly grown and matured into a hope that has not surrendered or slept.

Your reading this article right now is a dream come true for me, friend. Of course, like most passions, it may slowly transition to a gift if correctly handled and nurtured.

This passion is not aimed at me but first executed for the glory of God with an intention to serve you.

To Whom It May Concern

You may be wondering exactly what kind of audience my content will be aimed towards. As the saying goes, “If you serve everyone, you serve no one.” When it comes to content I can only serve to the best of my abilities to a given audience.

My heart is aimed at young women who are believers or are seeking to know who God is.

Maybe you have grown up in church your entire life or maybe you are the girl curious to know exactly who Jesus is. You want consistent, easy-to-read posts that motivate your faith or answer your questions. My content is for you.

I want this to be girl to girl, friend to friend, sister to sister. I desire to walk alongside and support you. I want my content to be encouraging but also personable as you live your own crazy and hectic life.

So friend, I hope you will come along for the ride.
